I have been making up logic puzzles for my son, seven. This one was maybe too much, he figured out about half of it then it wandered off into a discussion of what the heck was up with Susan.
---
You are having a dinner party for seven monsters and yourself. You need to figure out where to seat everybody. The table has 8 seats, like this:
2 3 4
1 5
8 7 6
The rules of dinner parties say that:
The host (you) should sit at the head of the table (seat 1)
Anybody who is married should be seated directly across the table from their husband / wife.
A boy should not be seated next to another boy, and a girl should not be seated next to another girl.
In addition:
You would like to sit next to the blob, because you have been wanting to talk to it.
Medusa should not sit next to anybody her snakes might hurt if they bit them. Her snakes are poisonous. That means she can't be next to you, or Susan, or the werewolf. Luckily, the alien says he is not affected by Earth poisons.
The blob, the robot, and the alien don't consider themselves to be either boys or girls. The vampire is a boy.
Susan doesn't get along with the blob or the robot, so neither one of them should be next to her.
The werewolf (a boy) is married to Susan (a girl).
(Additional note: "yourself" is my son)
